Overview

La Nuit de l’Homme le parfum is an aromatic men’s fragrance released by Yves Saint Laurent in 2010. It is one of the many spinoffs or flankers of the original (which was released in 2009). The original is an EDT but, the le parfum is an EDP that comes in 60 and 100 ml bottles. You know what time it is: let’s get on to the ratings.

YSL La Nuit de l'homme

YSL La Nuit de l'homme

The bottle on this one is cylindrical with a hexagon shaped cap. It has become the signature of the la Nuit line which is what YSL had intended.

The color of the short, cylindrical bottle is where one can tell which flanker it is, each flanker having it own color. The original has more of a clear and beige look while the le parfum has a total black look.

The bottle feels nice in had but to be honest there is nothing special about it apart from the hexagon cap.

Score: 6/10

Juice (Scent Composition)

The le parfum (EDP) is really a completely different fragrance from the original EDT. It has the lavender of the EDT but the cardamom has been replaced by black pepper and the woody base has been replaced by a bit of vanilla and patchouli (which I smell a lot of).

Unfortunately, the le parfum totally misses the mark on what makes the EDT smell nice. It is more “green” and “ferny”. The spice and wood has been almost totally stripped away which is the exact opposite of what you would do when making a stronger version of a fragrance that already has spices and woods at its base. Tsk Tsk, YSL.

If I were to describe it in Layman’s terms, I would say that it smells like a freshly cut garden.

This scent of the EDT is 10 times better than the disappointment of the EDP.

Score: 6/10

Performance

Projection: A complete disappoint for a fragrance that is supposed to be a stronger more intense version of an original. Projects very weak and is basically a skin scent within the first hour. 4/10

Longevity: he longevity on this one is actually quite good. You get a solid 7-8 hours on skin. It’s soft but you can still detect it.  7/10

Impressions (Complement factor): This one doesn’t get nearly as much complements as the original. The original EDT is one of the best complement getters hence the numerous amounts of flankers and spinoffs. My wife likes it but other than that, anyone else hardly notices.  3/10

Best Season: Fall and Winter (nights)

Best Occasion: Casual, Romantic

Is it right for you?

If you love the smell of la Nuit de l’Homme but have issues with the projection, then stay far away from this one because you will not get better projection and you will not get the nice scent of the EDT. A lose lose. But if you like green and fresh scents with a bit of spice, then you might want to give this one a try.
